About

My name is John Blake. I’ve taught History in diverse schools in Essex, Camden and Newham, and served as a head of department and faculty and as an assistant headteacher. I also have an interest in education policy and politics.

I am a Labour Party member and founder and former editor of Labour Teachers. As well as writing for that site, I’ve written on education and history for a number of publications including the TES, the Independent, the Telegraph, LabourList and Progress. I also contributed to Bristol and the First World War, a book produced by Bristol2014 to commemorate the First World War.
